Product description
Reproduction in 40 x 60 cm poster format of the painting "Portrait de la Baronne de Crussol" by Élisabeth Vigée-Lebrun, painter of Queen Marie-Antoinette. She had to live a large part of her life in exile after the Revolution because of her links with the Court. She is one of the greatest portrait painters of the late 18th century. Vigée-Lebrun painted this painting on wood after a trip to the Netherlands. It is a form of homage to this school of painting. The character holds a score from the opera by the German musician Gluck "Echo and Narcissus".
It is one of the most perfect portraits of the period. Vigée-Lebrun achieves a refinement close to David's masterpieces. with its harmonies of reds, blacks and greys and its rubbing technique.
